A grand evening was organized by the Indian Embassy in France, in presence of Ambassador M. Arun K. Singh and Le Cordon Bleu Paris, in praise of Indian cuisine. The culinary evening held on the 1st of October highlighted chef, author, restaurateur and food blogger Monish Gujral. Gujral heads Motimahal chain of restaurants who are the proud inventors of the Butter Chicken and Tandoori cuisine.
The evening started with the presentation of MotiMahal’s Documentary which enveloped the journey of the vintage brand all the way from Peshawar, Pakistan to New Delhi, India and how it evolved into being a global icon today. The documentary was followed by a speech by Catherine Beschet director at Le cordon bleu Paris. Gujral then talked about his culinary journey and how he came to reinvent the brand Motimahal to fit contemporary standards. This was then followed by a book release of On the Kebab Trail a compilation of Gujral’s travels around the world in search of the most delectable kebabs, providing some rare family recipes along the way. The book was launced in Paris by ambassador His highness Mr Arun singh.
There was also a demonstration of Indian cuisine organized. Chef Gujral prepared Tiranga Biriyani which presented a beautiful blend of the tricolor infused with delicate intricate spices. The savoury menu included a wide assortment of smoky kebabs like Chicken tikka, Seekh kebab and Hara bhara Kabab. Samosas chaat counters, papadam and the much loved gajar ka halwa. This event was also an ideal platform to discuss and explore Indian cuisine involving great culinary maestros around the world.
